Web Summit, Europe’s largest tech startup conference, launched a conference in Hong Kong last year. Rebranded as RISE, the conference is easily the biggest of its’ kind in Hong Kong and one of the largest in Asia.
Networking events will be plenteous and there will be plenty of VCs and media on hand as well, completing the holy tech trinity of startups, investors and journalists. In addition, there will be insightful talks given by leading voices in tech, including Freelancer CEO, Matt Barrie. Other notable companies that will be represented by speakers are Facebook, JP Morgan Chase and Microsoft. The chance to learn from leaders at startup unicorns such as Uber, Didi Chuxing and BigBasket.com will also be there.
Talks given are categorized under 7 different tracks so attendees can choose talks on subjects they’re most interested in. Participants can even see who else is attending using the free RISE app which makes networking that much easier.
The booths at RISE are all manned by Alpha startups- selected via application process. Going on throughout the conference will be PITCH, a pitch competition featuring 60 startups, battling it out in front of hundreds of attendees (and who knows how many investors), journalists and esteemed judges with only 1 emerging victorious!
And the pre-RISE events? 2 words: pub crawls. Basically, if you’re an entrepreneur in Southeast Asia, this is a can’t- miss event.
Running from May 31-June 2, RISE 2016 will be an electric atmosphere featuring tons of startups including yours truly, kowrk.com– so make sure you seek us out!
